The primary mission of the museum is to study the processes of development of the history and nature of the region, to ensure the safety and security of historical and cultural values, collection and storage of monuments of material and spiritual culture of the region. Provision of accessible high-quality services in the sphere of culture, contributing to the formation of a modern cultural environment and social optimism of citizens.
From the very first days of its establishment to the current day, the museum is located at 11 Nezavisimosti Ave., Ridder, in the right wing of a residential building on the ground floor. At present, the total area of the museum is 411.8 sq.m, out of which: 277 sq.m. occupied by exposition area, 74 sq.m. - offices, 60 sq.m. – storehouse.
There are 11,5 units in the staffing table. Among them are 6 museum specialists with higher education and one museum specialist with specialized secondary education.
The museum's collections comprise 32,571 items of storage (archaeological, ethnographic, paleontological collections, photo-documentary fund).
The museum highlights 5 areas of scientific research: natural science, archaeological, ethnographical, historical and protection of historical and cultural heritage.
Ridder Museum of Local History actively participates in regional, national and international seminars and events for the protection of cultural heritage.
