A few years ago, on the left bank of the Irtysh, the Khalifa Altai Mosque was built, becoming the third largest in Kazakhstan. The mosque was built on personal donations from residents of the region, contributions from enterprises, and sponsorship.
The mosque is built with a classical Islamic style in mind, it features 4 minarets of 63 meters each, that symbolize the years of the Prophet Muhammad's life. The interior of the Khalifa Altai Mosque is astounding in its beauty: it has a main chandelier with a height of 7 meters and a diameter of 5 meters made of the purest crystal with a light alloy of copper, the floor is carpet-covered. The bright blue domes gleam outside. The capacity of the mosque is 3,000 people.
