The Hamir River is a right tributary of the Bukhtarma. The river originates at the mountain lakes of the Kholzun ridge at an altitude of about 2100 m in the north part of the Altai region near the border with Russia. The river flows to the southeast, then turns to the southwest. It flows into the Bukhtarma near the village of Putintsevo.

The length of the Hamir River is 72 km . The river is fed mainly by snow, as well as by rain. Water mineralization is 50-300 mg/l.
