New Tourist Village and Hotels to Be Built in Katon-Karagay

Large-scale investment projects aimed at developing eco-tourism and regional infrastructure are being launched in the Katon-Karagay District of East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), reports YK-news.kz.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nurlybek Nalibayev, recently visited the region to participate in an on-site meeting regarding the development of ecological tourism in the Katon-Karagay State National Natural Park, where key projects were unveiled.

"Pana Katon Karagay" Tourist Village

One of the central projects is the construction of a new tourist village, "Pana Katon Karagay," implemented under the "100 QONAQJAI AUYL" national program.

  • Location and Area: The new settlement will cover 70 square kilometers adjacent to the existing village of Katon-Karagay.

  • Investor and Concept: Developed by the international company Pana Asia, the project will function as an international multi-functional tourist, agricultural, and recreational cluster focused on domestic and inbound tourism, outdoor activities, and education.

  • Infrastructure: Plans include a cable car system, glamping sites, open-air cinemas, horseback riding routes, and a unified architectural building code across the village.

  • Economic Impact: The project is expected to create over 500 new jobs. Total investments will amount to 10 billion tenge, with full implementation scheduled by 2030.


"ULAR PARK" Tourist Complex

Another major development presented during the meeting is the "ULAR PARK" hospitality complex.

  • Infrastructure Support: The company "ULAR PARK HOTEL" LLC has already invested 1.5 billion tenge of its own funds into building power transmission lines, roads, and a bridge connecting the villages of Berel and Arshaty.

  • Summer Hotel: Construction of a summer capsule hotel consisting of 13 units is scheduled for completion within this year.

  • Winter Complex: A larger winter hotel complex designed for 150 guests, with an estimated cost of 3 billion tenge, is set to open by 2028.
