On October 4, as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive to develop the country's road network, a section of the national highway "Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altay – Ulken Naryn – Katon-Karagay – Rakhmanov Springs" from kilometer 437 to 450 was commissioned in the East Kazakhstan Region. The work was carried out by specialists from JSC NC KazAvtoJol. The opening ceremony for the upgraded road section was attended by the Akim of East Kazakhstan Region, Nurymbet Saktaganov.

The project was implemented in 2025–2026. Repair works were completed by Zaysan Construction Company LLP. A new asphalt surface was laid along the 13-kilometer stretch. Additionally, 17 drainage gutters and 3 culverts were built. The corresponding engineering and road safety infrastructure was also brought up to standard.
"This project is of key importance, primarily for the residents of the region. The renovated section will ensure safe and comfortable transit for residents living in settlements along the route. Furthermore, this direction is of great significance for tourists traveling to Katon-Karagay National Park and Rakhmanov Springs," noted Nurymbet Saktaganov.

The upgraded road section will reduce travel times and lower vehicle wear and tear. The "Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altay – Ulken Naryn – Katon-Karagay – Rakhmanov Springs" route serves as one of the region's key transport corridors, holding significant socio-economic and tourism value.
The quality of transport infrastructure plays a crucial role in boosting the tourism potential of East Kazakhstan. The growing number of tourists visiting the region's natural attractions raises expectations for road accessibility and safety. The regional Akim emphasized the importance of not only modernizing the road, but also maintaining it at a proper level and preserving its quality for many years to come.
