Unified Tourist Transport Ecosystem Planned to Be Created in East Kazakhstan Region

В ВКО планируют создать единую туристическую транспортную экосистему

International company Pana Asia is launching a large-scale project in East Kazakhstan Region (EKR), reports YK-news.kz.

According to a press release, the company identifies logistics as one of the key factors holding back the development of the tourism industry: in terms of land area, Kazakhstan is comparable to five Frances, and without a multimodal transport system, scaling tourist flow is impossible.

To address this challenge, the project "Multimodal Routes of the Eastern Region" is currently under development. It aims to create a unified regional tourist transport ecosystem that integrates railways, river shipping, highways, and small aviation into a ring route: "Altay — Katon-Karagay — Markakol — Zaysan," including the "Oskemen — Bukhtarma" section with an Irtysh River cruise to Zaysan and the airport.

The project is designed to enhance transport accessibility to tourist zones, boost domestic and inbound tourism, and establish a standalone domestic tourism product.

Total investment in the project will amount to $47.5 million (25 billion tenge), with implementation scheduled through 2028.
