The Left Bank Zoo is located in the large pavilion of the Left Bank complex.

On October 24, 2008 the zoo was relocated from the Zhambyl Park to the Left bank complex of the museum-reserve.

Zoo (8 hectares) is designed to familiarize and educate the public, and especially children, with wildlife, the scientific study of animal behavior, the preservation of rare and endangered species, the reproduction of animals in captivity.

Many species living in the zoo are listed in the Red Book of Kazakhstan. These are: brown bear, spotted deer, golden eagle, domestic goose, red-crowned crane, burial eagle, steppe eagle.
