The excursion starts from the village of Uryl, located at the foot of the Tarbagatai ridge. First, a group of tourists moves along the left bank of the Bukhtarma river, then, after crossing the suspension bridge, goes to the village of Zhambyl. The way lies through the center of the village and then along the picturesque valley to the Berel mounds.
Time of stay is 1 hour (video, photo shooting, guide's lecture, conversation with archeologists).
Here, at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, in the valley of the Bukhtarma river, which is rightly called in scientific circles "Tsar valley", was discovered a burial mound of a Saka prince, dated IV century BC and became a sensation in modern science. A great number of objects and decorations have been found: wooden tablets with drawings, felt cloth and wool, remains of three horses with harness, a burial room of a prince with a great number of various objects. Many items were originally covered with gilding or gold plates. Ornaments in the form of gilded long horns were found on the horses. The finds, including organic material, were preserved in excellent condition due to the location of the mound in the permafrost zone. The leather, richly decorated saddles (more than 10 pieces) found in the mound are so far the oldest in Kazakhstan. The finds made during the excavations are of global significance and have been transferred to Nur-Sultan for further study.
The works on further studying of the valley are still continued by archeologists. Excursion guide will show tourists how the excavations are conducted, he will tell about the findings and the further plans of archeologists.
Lunch - 30 minutes.
