Shyngystai is a village in the Katon-Karagay District of the East Kazakhstan Region. It is located on the left bank of the Bukhtarma River, 5 km east of the village of Zhana-Ulga.
The Abdikerim School-Museum in the village of Shyngystai is a true witness of history. It was built in 1907 with the permission of the Field Governor-General of Omsk. This ancient wooden log house, where the NKVD was located during the 30s of the last century, still keeps the names of the prisoners. One of the halls is occupied by an exhibition dedicated to the famous writer O. Bokey.
