After the village of Mamai Batyr, there is a turn to the right-in the direction of Ablaikit and Sibin Lakes.

Ablaykit is an ancient Buddhist monastery-fortress, located 70 km from Ust-Kamenogorsk, near the lake of the same name – Ablaykit (Sibin area, distance from Lake Sadyrkol-about 1500 m).

The first mention of the Ablaykit monastery dates back to the XVII century. To this day, only the ruins of a once magnificent building remain, but its history will not leave anyone indifferent. It is believed that the Ablaykit monastery was built by the Dzungarian Khan Ablay and was destroyed during the internecine wars. Presumably, Ablaykit consisted of three richly decorated buildings: a tall white brick temple, a lama house, and a small building. According to legend, the temple even had a human-sized statue of the Buddha.

The early expeditions found here many fragments of statues, paintings, and manuscripts written in the Mongolian language. But the most valuable find was a magnificent library of Tibetan manuscripts, which was sent to Russia and then to France for deciphering. The unique manuscripts marked the creation of the Asian Museum in St. Petersburg. If you are interested in archaeology, you should definitely visit this mysterious place.
