Bukhtarma water reservoir is the pride of Eastern Kazakhstan. It is one of the five largest artificial reservoirs in the world, so it is often called the Bukhtarma Sea. For many Eastern Kazakhstan residents, summer is not summer, if they did not manage to come here for at least a couple of days. From May to September, thousands of people flock to Bukhtarma in order to swim, sunbathe and breathe this unique air. It is not only the locals who have fallen in love with the Bukhtarma Sea: people from neighboring countries also come here to rest.
The nature of Bukhtarma is an indescribable riot of colors and variety. Coniferous and deciduous forests, bizarre rocks, sandy and rocky beaches, quiet coves and backwaters create a stunning coastal panorama, and the fresh air is saturated with the extraordinary aroma of pine trees and motley grasses. And, of course, the sea, stretching all the way to the horizon.
There are a plenty of water activities on Bukhtarma: boats, catamarans, scooters, "donuts", "bananas", water skis. Sea trips on pleasure boats are also popular. If you decide to take a trip on such a boat, be sure to visit the wild beach "Zolotye Peski" (Golden Sands). The sand here contains a large amount of mica, so after lying on this beach, the skin will sparkle like the scales of a goldfish!
During the predawn fog, fishermen can often be found on the shores of Bukhtarma. Fishing here is a pleasure: it is possible to catch roach, bream, perch, goldfish, peled and even walleye, carp, pike or burbot. We can talk for hours about Bukhtarma, but you need to see and feel it for yourself. Be sure to come here, your vacation will leave you with wonderful memories for a long time!
The coast of Bukhtarma is full of recreation centers and guesthouses, different in terms of comfort and the cost of vouchers. Often, the price also depends on how picturesque the recreation center is, and how far the cottages are located from the water. You can buy vouchers to recreation centers in Ust-Kamenogorsk, but many people come to Bukhtarma and just rent houses, which are rent out here almost at every step.
The village of Novaya Bukhtarma has everything a tourist needs: a market with a large selection of fruits and vegetables, many shops, a service station and pharmacies. Fishermen can purchase gear and even worms. In the surrounding area you can find mushrooms, wild blackberries, raspberries and strawberries.
