Ulken Naryn is the administrative center of Katon-Karagay district. The village is located on the eastern shore of the Bukhtarma reservoir, near the Narym River delta.
There are two gas stations at the exit: "Ulken Naryn" and "Bukhtarma Oil" (AI 92, 95, DT).
In the local history museum you can take a selfie on the background of the Saka king.
According to legend, on the site of modern Ulken Naryn several centuries ago was the city of Alachin (Alaty), which was surrounded by several settlements. It was known in Central Asia and Western China for the local tall horse breed Alaat. In front of the village of Belkaragay there is a stela and an information stand of the Katon-Karagay National Nature Park (in three languages).
