Akzhar is a village in Tarbagatay District of East Kazakhstan region. It is located about 69 km east of the district center, the village of Aksuat, and 410 km southwest of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, on the southern slope of the Zaysan basin, on the bank of the Kandysu River. The nearest railway station is Zhangiztobe (302 km).
Akzhar is translated from the Kazakh language as "white cliff".
